Patricia McCann’s Flower Sellers Photo Exhibition

Local writer Patricia McCann, invites the public to an open event in studio 468 in St. Andrew’s on Friday 19th April from 1pm to 3pm and 7pm to 9pm.

Patricia is our current artist-in-residence in studio 468.  For the last six weeks she has been working with film maker Vinny Murphy,  researching and developing a film script which reflects the inter-generational experience of the women flower sellers of Grafton Street.

This open studio event on April 19th will showcase Patricia’s current film research through a display of the women flower sellers’ photographs that document their families’ generational presence on the landmark Dublin Street. The images and documentation reflect on the contemporary and historical role of working class women and their relationship to the city’s fabric.

At the centre of Patricia’s collaborative film and script development process is the ambition to make a film that honours and capture the social, economic and cultural stories of those women whom she herself has known for most of her life. These same women were most recently almost prohibited from continuing their job following the actions of Hines’ (a global Property Portfolio company) desire in 2019 to remove the flower sellers from the street.
